I wanted it to be as authentic as possible
The barbed wire was a pain in the ass to shape. I had to clip certain barbs and cover them with glue so that they wouldn’t pierce into the book. I left all barbs facing outward long and sharp
I made the skin with silicone and then painting
I filled in the boarders with more silicone so that the edges would feel even more squishy and you wouldn’t be able to feel the boards I used in the cover
I made all of the paper from scratch and used a 1500s binding technique
I hand wrote and drew every freaking page (got the pdf of the full book from a prop site online and hand copied it all over on to the pages I had made)
The circles were a bitch
I used a heat gun on the edges and to darken and “age” the paper
This was where I had to buy a second set of the pens I was using because I didn’t realize how much ink was going to be used and kept running out
This was about where I realized that watercolor paint would work just as well (if not way better) than ink pens -also this is one of my favorite pages
This one was all watercolor
Also just watercolor (not the writing. That was all still fine tipped pens throughout the book)
Watercolor
Watercolor
Okay pretty much every pic at this point moving forward was just straight watercolor with a fine tipped brush
Yes even this one!
I waited to do these pages last so I could see how they’d line up when I bound the book. It’s still a little off but pretty damn close
Somehow managed to give this guy a tilted head and far creeper face than the pdf I was referencing on accident. But I love it
This one somehow looks like Edgar Allan Poe
So yeah. There’s the whole book. I worked on it for over a year, but not consistently. Most of the time spent was trial and error trying to figure out the process of it all. There was a lot of trial and error with the paper haha. Overall I am extremely happy with the final product.
Made the Necronomicon from the 2013 evil dead movie from scratch (50 Pics)
