GOP Oversight Committee Chairman Calls For Release Of Visitor Logs From Biden’s Delaware Residence

House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY) on Sunday called on White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain to release visitor records for President Joe Biden’s Delaware home and other information related to the classified documents found there.

Comer penned a letter to Klain after the recent discovery of classified documents held in the president’s residence from his time as vice president under former President Barack Obama.

“It is troubling that classified documents have been improperly stored at the home of President Biden for at least six years, raising questions about who may have reviewed or had access to classified information,” Comer wrote. “Additionally, President Biden’s personal attorneys, who do not possess security clearances, and White House staff continue to access and search the President’s residence in Wilmington, Delaware for classified documents.”

The Oversight Committee chairman demanded Klein provide the information to keep the country safe.

“Given the serious national security implications, the White House must provide the Wilmington residence’s visitor log,” Comer added.

Comer requested the logs and detailed information about searches of Biden’s home and other locations by January 30, 2023.

During a Sunday interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Comer said he wants information on who had access to Biden’s former Penn Center office, where classified documents were also found.

”Why didn’t we hear about this on November 2nd when the first batch of classified documents were discovered?” Comer asked.

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Thursday that he appointed former U.S. Attorney Robert Hur as special counsel to take over the probe started by U.S. Attorney John Lausch.

“The document authorizes him to investigate whether any person or entity violated the law in connection with this matter,” Garland said during the press conference. “The special counsel will not be subject to the day-to-day supervision of any official of the department, but he must comply with the regulations, procedures and policies of the department.”

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) also sent a letter to Garland demanding documents and communications related to the discovery of Biden’s classified materials.

Biden’s personal attorneys first discovered classified documents at the Penn Biden Center on November 2, 2022. The National Archives informed the Department of Justice of President Biden’s improper storage of documents two days later.

On November 14, Garland tasked Lausch with reviewing whether a special counsel should be appointed. On December 20, more than a month later, Biden’s lawyers notified Lausch of additional classified documents found at the president’s Wilmington residence.

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked Biden about the documents at his home during a press conference on Thursday.

“Classified material next to your Corvette? What were you thinking?” Doocy asked.
