Bride reveals her future sister-in-law tried to get her FIRED from her job as a special education teacher because she is having a children-free reception

A bride-to-be has revealed that her future sister-in-law tried to get her fired from her job as a special education teacher because she is having a child-free reception.

The 28-year-old opened up about the family drama on Reddit's 'Am I the A**hole' forum, explaining she and her fiancé explicitly wrote on their wedding invitations: 'We love all of your children, but for the night we are having an adult-only reception.'

However, the groom's sister has insisted on taking her four-year-old autistic daughter to the celebration — even though the music, food, and lights would be triggering for her.

'Now our niece is our flower girl with our two-year-old nephew, so they will be in the wedding and the photos but not the reception,' she wrote, noting that she even arranged to have one of her friends who specializes in special education watch her niece.

The bride said her fiancé's niece is ASD (autism spectrum disorder) level two and needs substantial support. Her triggers include any music that is not made for children, lights, foods and clothing with certain textures, and people sitting in certain ways.

She explained that she is saving her 'dream' wedding dress for the reception because wearing it around her niece would trigger her.

The bride stressed that she planned her entire ceremony to meet her niece's needs and is even walking down the aisle to a song from the Disney animated film Tangled, but that still isn't enough for her sister-in-law.

'She basically wants me to scrap my entire reception plan for her. I told her no and she's gone to my job to tell them that I'm unfit for my work due to lack of care I have shown to people outside of work,' she wrote.

'This being a private school, they have to take it seriously so they are investigating the claim, as three of my [future sister-in-law's] friends have also called them.'

The woman said her fiancé and future mother-in-law have already told her off,  insisting 'it's not fair to the family' to have to accommodate her daughter 24/7.

'They want to have a night of adult fun without worrying about a niece meltdown because I decided to wear a sparkly dress and serve chicken and listen to music that wasn't created for children,' she explained.

'My fiancé and I want a childfree wedding reception because, personally, we don't have time to hang out with our friends without children around and we all deserve a night of adult-only fun.'

However, she admitted the entire situation has made her doubt herself, noting: 'If I'm not willing to accommodate my niece for one day, why am I working with kids [who] are worse off than her?'

'It is 100% okay to have a kid-free wedding reception. I would be no contact with future SIL until she gave me a sincere, unqualified apology and retracted her statements to my job in writing,' one person wrote.

'And if I suffered any negative employment consequences because of this, I would be no contact for life. There wouldn’t be any coming back from that for me.'

'I'd also consult a lawyer to see if this is sufficient for a defamation suit,' someone else added, while another commented: 'She absolutely needs to be uninvited, or she will 100% try to ruin the wedding.'

Others were baffled as to why the woman's future sister-in-law would want to put her daughter in a situation where she would likely have a meltdown.

'This is what I can't get. Why on earth is FSIL demanding to take her daughter to the reception when she knows her daughter won't be able to cope?' one person asked.

'That seems like all kind of wrongness and setting her daughter up for a traumatizing evening. Take the offer of a baby sitter with experience with special needs children!'

The bride later returned to the post to say her fiancé has given his sister 'a deadline to come clean' — and if she doesn't, neither they nor his mother will have any future contact with her.
