A brand new Rasmussen Poll shows just how deeply in love Democrats are in with the failed system called Socialism.
We might even go so far as to call their affection for Socialism a “slobbering love affair,” a phrase coined by Media analyst Bernard Goldman.
Goldman used it to describe the media’s love of Barack Obama but the phrase perfectly applies as well to Democrats newest love.
Via Rasmussen Polls:
“A new Heartland Institute and Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 69% of all Likely U.S. Voters rate a free-market economic system as better than socialism. Just 12% think socialism is a better economic system, but 18% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
A closer look, however, finds that while 87% of Republicans and 69% of voters not affiliated with either major party see a free-market system as better, just 53% of Democrats agree. Twenty-one percent (21%) of Democrats like socialism better, with a sizable 25% not sure.
Forty-one percent (41%) of Democrats say they would vote for a presidential candidate who identifies himself or herself as a socialist, but only 19% of GOP voters and 16% of unaffiliateds agree.”
Lets break that down.
In the 2016 election, 44,242,975 votes were cast by Democrats according to an analysis done by the Washington Examiner.
That means roughly 9,291,000 Democrat voters support socialism over capitalism and another roughly 11,060,000 Democrats are unsure, assuming the poll’s averages hold across the Dems voter base.
Forty one percent of the Democrat voter base would likely vote for a socialist like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren.
That’s a lot of support within the Democratic Party for what was a fringe position not that long ago.
The good news is less than twenty percent of Republican and sixteen percent of Independent voters would likely vote for a socialist.
The bad news is why the heck would twenty percent of Republican voters be willing to voter for a socialist for President?
