Avengers star Chris Evans tells six-year-old boy who saved his sister from dog attack and ended up with 90 stitches that he's sending him a Captain America shield because 'we need more people like you'

Avengers star Chris Evans has honored a little boy who saved his sister from being ravaged by a charging dog, sending him a sweet video message and vowing to send him a Captain America shield.
Evans - who plays the superhero in Marvels movies - recorded a clip for Bridger Walker after news spread of how the child from Cheyenne, Wyoming put himself in between his sibling and the animal, leading to him getting mauled and needing 90 stitches.
'I read your story, I saw what you did. I’m sure you’ve heard this a bunch of times over the last couple of days, but let me be the first one to tell you, Pal, you’re a hero,' he said.
'What you did was so brave and so selfless. Your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you.'
Footage posted to social media on Wednesday showed Bridger's pleased reaction as the famous face addressed him.

The clip was made possible after Bridger's aunt, Nicole Walker, contacted the filmmakers with information about the incident that had gone viral on social media.
Filmmaker Brandon Davis called the stunt one of the most fulfilling things they could do as he shared the clip of Bridger wearing an Avengers costume while watching the message with his little sister.

'I’m gonna track down your address and I’m gonna send you an authentic Captain America shield, because pal, you deserve it,' Evans continued. 'Keep being the man you are, we need people like you. Hang in there, I know recovery might be tough. But, based on what I’ve seen, there’s not much that could slow you down.'
Evans added in a Twitter caption: 'Get this man a shield.'
The line is a reference from Avengers: Infinity War and gained prominence in the trailer when uttered by T'Challah, also known as the Black Panther.

The surprise message came after Hollywood stars Anne Hathaway and Mark Ruffalo heaped praise on Bridger.
He was bitten several times on the head and face and despite having been attacked, he was able to grab his sister's hand and lead her away from danger, according to an Instagram post from his aunt Nicole Walker.
Ms Walker asked people to share the post as widely as possible so he could get some 'words of encouragement from his favorite heroes.'
Amazingly, Avengers star Ruffalo responded after Hathaway shared Bridger's story and said, 'I know a superhero when I see one.'
She initially wrote in an Instagram post: 'I'm not an Avenger, but I know a superhero when I see one.
'I can only hope I'm half as brave in my life as you are in yours, Bridger.'
Ruffalo then responded to Ms Walker's post and wrote: 'Dear Bridger, I just read about what happened to you and I wanted to reach out to say this…
'People who put the wellbeing of others in front of themselves are the most heroic and thoughtful people I know.
'I truly respect and admire your courage and your heart. Real courage isn't dominating people or fighting against people or walking around like a tough guy.
'Real courage is knowing what is right to do and doing it even when it might end up hurting you somehow.'

Shocking pictures show Bridger's swollen face and and bloodied stitches running up his cheek from his mouth.
Ms Walker said the little boy received around 90 stitches from a 'skilled plastic surgeon' and is now recovering at home.
She also revealed in her post that the little boy said of his selfless act, 'If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.'
'I just finished visiting with Bridger at his home,' the post read.
'His wounds are looking so much better! He's in great spirits, and his awesome personality is intact.
'He can't smile too widely yet, but he was grinning as I read some of your comments to him.'
Remarkably, Ms Walker added that Bridger and his family 'feel no resentment' toward the dog owners.
The aunt said some people who saw the post had asked if there was a GoFundMe page for Bridger.
She instead asked that people donate to military veteran groups and send photos of rocks to Bridger because he loves geology.
