'I'm just honestly waiting for a racial slur to come out': Outspoken soccer star Megan Rapinoe calls Trump's 'go back' tweets 'disgusting' and says 'that's not who we want to be as a country'

US Women's National Soccer Team co-captain Megan Rapinoe took aim at President Trump's racist tweets telling four Democratic congresswomen of color to 'go back' to the countries they came from, calling them 'disgusting' and 'disappointing.'
During her appearance on CNN's The Van Jones Show Saturday, Rapinoe was asked about her thoughts on the way Trump Twitter-targeted lawmakers Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib with his controversial statement telling them to 'go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.
Rapinoe, fresh off a World Cup win, said 'It's disgusting, to be honest.'

'To say it's disappointing is... it doesn't even come close,' she added. 'I'm just honestly waiting for a racial slur to come out, like we're not far from it at all. How much closer do we need to be?'
Rapinoe noted that she thought 'everyone is like disgusted by that. That's not who we want to be as a country,' going on to note that even Republicans were 'like wow, too far...even for us.'
She also went on to say that she found the general public's disapproval of Trump's tweeted sentiments energizing though, especially in the positive manner in which Omar was greeted by supporters at the airport when she flew back to her Minnesota hometown.

'The more that we just are upset about it and don't accept that kind of behavior from all sides, then the better place we're going to be,' Rapinoe said.
Rapinoe was also queried about which of the many Democratic presidential nominee hopefuls she liked best during the interview.
She revealed that she was interested in Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who she called 'so smart' and an 'organized' thinker, and Sen. Kamala Harris, who she 'would never want to get in an argument' with.
'Maybe it's time for us as a country to just embrace a woman' as president, Rapinoe said. 'Let's just see what happens.'
Although it was suggested by fans that she should run for president, Rapinoe said she had no plans to run and that she would be 'like, wildly unqualified to be running for office.'
