After 'Armaggedon': Shocking before and after photos from space and on the ground reveal colossal smoke clouds and communities devastated by California wildfires, which flattened 220,000 acres and killed at least 44 (28 Pics)

  • Infernos have caused widespread destruction across large areas of the state since Thursday
  • The Camp Fire is the deadliest in state history killing at least 42 in Northern California
  • Meanwhile in Southern California firefighters are still battling the Woolsey Fire, which has claimed two lives
  • Satellite images show the state cloaked in a massive blanket of smoke that ravaged the Sierra Nevada foothills in the north as well as scenic canyons and beachside celebrity enclaves in the south   
  • More than 7,000 structures have been incinerated in the fires, a number that is expected to rise as damage is surveyed and official numbers are tallied 


The satellite images above show the area ravaged by the deadly Camp Fire in Northern California over the last six days. The image at above was taken last Tuesday before the fire broke out and the one at below was taken today

The images above show a wider view of the region north of Sacramento where the Camp Fire torched more than 113,000 acres. The photo at above was taken on November 6 and the one at below was taken a week later on Tuesday

Two other infernos were ignited in Southern California on Thursday, quickly taking over nearly 150 square miles. The affected area north of Los Angeles is pictured above last Tuesday before the wildfires and below today cloaked in smoke

Paradise resident Gregory Trosset shared the photos above of his home before and after the Camp Fire to Twitter on Monday

Rose Tryon also shared photos of her home before and after it burned down in the Camp Fire last week
