Artist Unveils Mural of 'Superhero' Beto O'Rourke in Austin

Chris Rogers, Austin-based professional artist, has created another mural just in time for early voting. Entitled “Beto For Texas,” the piece displays the Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke as a hero, with a Texas flag resembling a cape flying behind him, and an uppercase B on his T-shirt. In the distance, the “B” emblem is also projected into the night sky, above the Austin skyline.
The mural took Rogers 40 hours to finish, which is impressive considering the amount of rain that Austin has seen these past few weeks. Despite the weather, he kept painting.
According to a press release, Rogers says the theme for the project was “out of the darkness comes the light,” which he thinks will deeply resonate with East Austinites. He hopes that the impact from his mural will spread farther than just the limits of our city, however, and he wants it to be viewed as a monument to restoring justice throughout Texas, and ultimately the United States.
