President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he was exiting the 2024 presidential race, and while the official letter came from his office, many said that the marching orders had come from a handful of high-dollar donors and prominent members of his own party.
And as fate would have it — and as a number of people quickly pointed out via X — the president famous for his love of ice cream announced his plan to “stand down” and not accept the party’s nomination on National Ice Cream Day.
“If Joe Biden dropping out on national ice cream day doesn’t prove we live in a simulation idk what will,” one posted.
“Democrats really made Joe Biden step down on national ice cream day,” Clay Travis posted.
“Biden dropping out on national ice cream day is so on brand actually. iconic,” another mused.
“They booted out Biden on National Ice Cream Day? Now that’s just cruel!” Emily Zanotti posted.
“No… no… no… I refuse to believe this is the real world. This absolutely cannot be reality. I have suffered massive head trauma and am in a coma, because THIS CANNOT POSSIBLY BE TRUE,” another posted.
July 21 is a federally recognized holiday — National Ice Cream Day — and has been so since then-President Ronald Reagan signed off on it in 1984.
