Kamala Harris hit Biden hard at debates, and then flip flopped on the issue she beat him over

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) is celebrating a large surge in her support after taking down Joe Biden a peg in the Democratic debates, but critics are slamming her for flip flopping on the very issue she nailed him on.

Harris recalled during the debate how she was benefitted from mandatory school busing in order to integrate public schools and slammed Biden for opposing the controversial policy.

"That's where the federal government must step in," Harris said to Biden during the debate.

Later, after many pointed out that mandatory school busing had been widely seen as a failure and a thoroughly unpopular policy, she appeared to oppose it.

"I think of busing as being in the toolbox of what is available and what can be used for the goal of desegregating America's schools,"she said on Wednesday after being asked by reporters if she supported federal school busing.

When asked to clarify her position, she merely repeated, "I believe that any tool that is in the toolbox should be considered by a school district."

The Biden campaign hit back by pointing out Harris' hypocrisy in attacking their candidate for something she apparently now endorses herself.

"It's disappointing that Senator Harris chose to distort Vice President Biden's position on busing," tweeted Biden deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield, "particularly now that she is tying herself in knots trying not to answer the very question she posed to him!"

Former Obama advisor David Axelrod tweeted, "It sounds here like @KamalaHarris is now taking something more like the @JoeBidenposition on school busing."

"So what was that whole thing at the debate all about?" he asked.
