Sean Penn urges only those who have been vaccinated to see his new drama film Flag Day in theaters

Sean Penn during a talk show visit Monday asked that only moviegoers who have been vaccinated from coronavirus see his new film Flag Day in theaters.

The 61-year-old Oscar winner while promoting the drama that he directs and stars in made the request while appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers on NBC.

Seth, 47, asked Sean if it was 'extra special' to have the film that also stars his daughter Dylan, 30, be available in theaters after 18 months of shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

'For me, the fact that it is in the theaters and particularly that it's exclusively in theaters because I think that that baits those like me. You know, if I'm interested in seeing the film I don't want the convenience of the small box when something as Flag Day was made for the big screen,' Sean said.

Sean said that he was fortunate to have MGM as the distributor because they believed in the film the same way and granted the exclusive period in theaters.

'But I do always feel at this point in time that I have to say that I hope, I'd ask, that as much as I want people all to go to the theater, I really only want people who are vaccinated and are safe to themselves and each other to go,' Sean said.

'And it will stream but most of the people who aren't vaccinated probably aren't interested in my movies anyway,' he added.

'Yeah, that's a good point,' Seth said laughing.

Seth also asked Sean about the music in the film and the director shared that he involves 'songs as characters'.

He also revealed that Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder, 56, who he worked with on Into The Wild also came on board for Flag Day and curated the music.
