NYPD cop is caught on security camera repeatedly punching shackled suspect after he 'flooded holding cell by blocking toilet'

Shocking footage shows the moment an NYPD officer began beating a handcuffed suspect after the man flooded the toilet inside a Manhattan holding cell on April 22.

The video opens with Eugene Blake, a suspect arrested for robbery, as he steps away from an overflowing toilet he allegedly caused to flood.

Two officers enter the cell and handcuff Blake, who appears apathetic to the situation. As they walk him to the corner away from the toilet, Blake stumbles, much to the officers' frustration.

Two other officers come in to help shackle Blake's ankles to the bench in the corner.

As they walk away, Blake appears to say something to the cops, with one of them rushing back in to pin him against the wall. There is no sound on the clip, and the words Blake said to the officers have not been disclosed.

Another officer gets up on the bench to stand over his colleges and punches Blake three times in the head before the other officers scramble to get him away from Blake.

As the three officers work to calm the situation, Blake is left motionless, balled up and shackled in the corner of the cell.

Blake is now filing a civil suit against the four officers in Manhattan federal court, according to his attorney, Alex Padilla.

Blake alleges that after the initial assault caught on video, the three male officers moved him to a room without a camera to continue to beat him.

The fourth cop, a female officer, allegedly 'stood by and did nothing, though she had a duty and an opportunity to intervene and put a stop to the illegal use of force by her colleagues,' the suit said.

None of the officers are identified in the court papers.

Blake had been arrested on April 21 on charges of robbery, robbery using a dangerous instrument, and assault with intent to cause serious physical injury.

The NYPD said they will review the lawsuit if and when it is served, The New York Post reports.
