Spirit Airlines passenger, 29, is charged with assault for 'repeatedly punching mom-of-two in the face because her kids, aged 3 and 7, were kicking her seat'

A woman is facing felony charges after police say she punched a mother on a Spirit Airlines flight at Portland International Airport on Sunday because the victim's children had kicked the back of her seat.

Daydrena Jaslin Walker-Williams, 29, pulled her luggage from an overhead bin and then struck passenger Nataly Hernandez two to three times with her fist, leaving the woman with a bleeding lip and lumps on her head, a probable-cause affidavit states.

Walker-Williams admitted to the beating, according to the complaint. She told police she was upset Hernandez’s children, ages three and seven, kicked the back of her seat.

According to Walker-Williams, when she told Hernandez 'to tell her kids to stop it,' the mom-of-two ignored her and later 'hit her on the shoulder, reported The Oregonian/OregonLive.

During her interview with police, Walker-Williams claimed she did not tell a flight attendant about being hit because her 'first reaction was to fight,' according to the affidavit.

Police officers told Walker-Williams that other passengers on the plane saw her pummel Hernandez, but did not see Hernandez hit her on the shoulder.

Walker-Williams’ reply according to the affidavit was, 'You do what you got to do.'

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office has charged Walker-Williams with felony assault and harassment.

She was released on bail just hours after her arrest.
