Moment skydiver’s iPhone SURVIVES plunging to Earth from 12,000 feet and smashing into the Arizona desert

This is the amazing moment a skydiver's iPhone plunges to the earth moments after he leaps from an aircraft high above the Arizona desert.

Kody Madro, 31, who is from Illinois, had just jumped from around 12,000ft in January 2020 when his mobile phone flew from his pocket.

The daredevil, who is also a snowboarder, was being filmed by a friend who saw the object flying away from Mr Madro.

The friend initially feared a vital part of Mr Madro's rig had failed and was facing grave peril.

Fortunately, Mr Madro was not in any danger and was completely oblivious to what had happened.

After landing he was able to find the mobile in the desert using the Find my iPhone app

Pictures show the badly damaged handset with a shattered screen - which remarkably still worked for two weeks after the incident.

He said: 'It was filmed about a year ago in Eloy, Arizona. I usually don’t take my cell phone and if I do it’s never been an issue in my pocket except those pants had ripped earlier in the day.

'So when my cell phone flew out, my buddy actually thought a piece of my skydive rig flew off.

'His face was priceless as I was looking back at him, I didn’t realize my phone was gone until I landed.

'I used find my iPhone to locate it In the desert.

'I used the phone for another couple weeks before it eventually conked out.'

Mr Madro said the phone worked for a couple of weeks before it needed replacing
