Vandals scrawl 'elections no revolution yes' on Republican congressional candidate Sean Parnell's Pennsylvania house and spray a hammer and sickle on his drive

vVandals have scrawled revolutionary graffiti on the home of a Republican congressional candidate in Pennsylvania and sprayed a hammer and sickle on his driveway.

Sean Parnell, who is running for election in Pennsylvania's 17th district, posted an image on Twitter yesterday showing the graffiti daubed over the garage to his home, which reads: 'Elections No Revolution Yes.'

On his drive, vandals sprayed a crude hammer and sickle, a symbol associated with communism and first used during the 1917 Russian Revolution.

Pennsylvania, which holds 20 electoral votes, is a key state on the path to election victory for both Republicans and Democrats.

'My house was vandalized last night by cowards under the cover of darkness,' Parnell wrote on Twitter.

'This is what is at stake in this election. We all must fight for our country and we must do it NOW. I will not cower. I will not back down. I will always fight for this nation.'

The same message was sprayed on the front of Rep. Mike Doyle's office on the South Side of Pittsburgh.

In a statement issued Sunday, Parnell said: 'Regardless of political party, those that choose to run for office do so because they believe they can help the country.

'It is perfectly reasonable to disagree with each other and with political candidates, but the way to do that is at the voting booth.

'I believe that we are at an important point in our great nation's history and I most assuredly stand against socialism, violence, and destruction.'

'Hopefully, we all can respect our system of choosing our representatives in a peaceful and dignified way and no matter who we support and oppose, we do it with our vote, and not through destruction of property and violence to our fellow Americans,' he added.

Congressman Doyle, a Democrat who is up for reelection against Republican challenger Luke Negron for the seat in the 18th Congressional District, also issued a statement on Sunday, calling the vandals 'self-described revolutionaries'.

'The overwhelming majority of Americans wholeheartedly support free and fair elections, which are the foundation of our democratic government,' he said in the statement.

'Vandalism by a few self-described revolutionaries will never change that.'

Police are investigating both incidents, TribLive reported.

Fox News, citing the Cook Report, say the seat currently 'leans Democratic'.
