Donald Trump backs out of throwing first pitch at Yankee Stadium saying he's focused on the 'China Virus' and meetings about vaccines despite greeting MAGA fans near his golf club without a mask

President Donald Trump axed his plans to throw the first pitch at Yankee Stadium on August 15, claiming he was too busy focusing on the coronavirus crisis ravaging the country.
'Because of my strong focus on the China Virus, including scheduled meetings on Vaccines, our economy and much else, I won’t be able to be in New York to throw out the opening pitch for the @Yankees on August 15th,' Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon, refusing to give up his offensive nickname for the disease.
But he promised to make an appearance at the baseball field adding, 'We will make it later in the season!'
Despite Trump’s dedication to meetings on the virus – which has infected more than 4.1million and killed over 146,000 in the country – he spent his Sunday greeting 50 supporters gathered near his New Jersey golf club, notably without wearing a mask.
Trump has been trying to show voters that he is taking the virus seriously by holding briefings and canceling Republican convention events set for Jacksonville, Florida - which now has more COVID-19 cases than New York.

On Sunday the president was seen exiting his black SUV and handing a stack of 'Keep America Great' baseball caps to toss into the crowd and was heard telling his fans 'thank you' in Bedminster, New Jersey.
The minute-long campaign stop was the first time the president left his Trump National Golf Club Bedminster all weekend.
The president had been praised for accepting the Yankee’s invitation to throw the ceremonial first pitch for the adjusted season which was cut short due to the pandemic.
However, Trump may be avoiding New York City, where he’s butted heads with Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill De Blasio, who commissioned a Black Lives Matter mural painted across Trump Tower, the president’s Manhattan residence.
Adding to the blow Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr, who oversees the borough where Yankee Stadium is located, slammed Trump as a 'white supremacist'.
Diaz said Trump had no business coming to the Bronx amid the pandemic and protests decrying systemic racism.

Just last Thursday Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s most prominent infectious disease doctor who sits on the White House coronavirus task force, threw out the first pitch of the Major League Baseball season in Washington DC where the Bronx Bombers defeated the Washington Nationals, 4 to 1.
The president, though busy with meetings, has also made plenty of time for his campaign trail in the past and could be avoiding New York to evade a lackluster audience and bad optics ahead of his election.
He recently held a rally for his re-election in Oklahoma to an arena that was two-thirds empty. He also held a rally at Mount Rushmore over the Fourth of July Weekend.
At both events, masks and social distancing were not observed. Both rallies were heavily criticized for being held in light of surging cases in some states, many of them Republican-run.
Trump continued to tweet about the election Sunday once again bashing mail-in voting.
'The 2020 Election will be totally rigged if Mail-In Voting is allowed to take place, & everyone knows it. So much time is taken talking about foreign influence, but the same people won’t even discuss Mail-In election corruption. Look at Patterson, N.J. 20% of vote was corrupted!' he tweeted.

The president also tweeted complaints about media coverage and the Democrats, boasting that the 'Silent Majority' will see him through the election.
'The Trump Campaign has more ENTHUSIASM, according to many, than any campaign in the history of our great Country - Even more than 2016. Biden has NONE! The Silent Majority will speak on NOVEMBER THIRD!!! Fake Suppression Polls & Fake News will not save the Radical Left,' the president started off in a morning tweet Sunday.
His comments addressed media reports showing him falling behind in polls running against Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential election as the contest was only 100 days out.
Trump has been heavily criticized for his leadership and handling of the coronavirus crisis.
