In late 2014 I travelled to Japan to live for a year. In late December I found myself in a second hand store in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Foolishly I thought plundering all their retro games would be good idea; games that were in Japanese that I would never play. I sold on the majority, but kept a copy of Pokemon Green and this Gameboy Pocket Camera. It wasn't until four years later that I finally booted the thing up and discovered these 29 photos of the previous owners. (Continued below).

It turns out the camera can only store 30 photos. I wanted to take some of my own, but couldn't bring myself to consign these people to digital oblivion. So, I did some research and bought a little machine that you attach in place of a Gameboy Printer. It takes the output and turns it into digital images which you can then send to your phone or computer.
And here they are. 29 photos of the previous, Japanese owners. I have no idea how long the camera was in the shop or, before that, the last time it was used. These photos could be from 2014, but they could also be from 1998! Hidden relics of a bygone age.

If you're looking at this Imgur album, you've probably seen me comment somewhere else and already know what I hope to do. But, if not: with the help of the internet I want to find these people. Hopefully they will recognise their younger, more pixelated selves and will get in touch. I don't live in Japan anymore, but travel there at least once a year and really hope I can take my Gameboy and Camera and take a photo with them.
Whoever you are, reading this, please help in whatever way you can!
Thanks and enojoy the photos!

Update: Some people have expressed concern about me posting other people's photos online. I understand and did consider this before posting. I'll try and explain my thought process briefly. I'm not expecting anyone to change their mind on the matter, but wanted to address these concerns, which I think are valid.
1. These photos are very low quality. I have no idea how one would go about identifying and finding these people, other than in the manner I'm doing here, i.e. asking them to come forward.
2. These photos were left on a camera they sold to a second hand shop. If these people were overly conscious of strangers seeing them I assume they would have either deleted the photos or simply binned the camera. It cost me 300 yen (2.79USD), seems like an easy price to pay if you were that concerned.
3. I said I want to find these people. I do, but the ball is entirely in their court. If they see this online I would be really thrilled if they came forward and contacted me. If they don't want to, then I apologise for the surprise and wish them all the best!
To the vast majority who like this, thanks, I hope this story will have an end!
P.S. Although the photos are now online, I could edit this post to cover their eyes (though half of them are covered in filtes anyway). What do you think?
P.P.S. I talked about this idea with a Japanese friend last year and she thought it was great fun. Obviously, she does not speak for all Japan, but it did allay my worries somewhat!
