VIDEO: Students blast Trump for profiting off presidency. When they find out it's actually Obama, they turn on him, too.

Campus Reform's Addison Smith recently visited the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he asked students their thoughts about about U.S. presidents profiting from the office.

What are the details?

Smith appears in the video revealing that he planned on asking students what they thought of President Donald Trump's net worth increasing "30-fold since running for political office."
"[W]hat will students think when they actually figure out that all of this was President Barack Obama, and that President Trump's net worth has actually been cut in half?" he asks.

Here's what they said when presented with the Trump scenario:

  • "I don't think that an executive office should be used for personal business gains."
  • "Trump's using a lot of his businesses in Saudi Arabia and other countries to increase his profits as president. That's a huge problem, because once you're president you have a lot of powers and you can take advantage of that stuff."
  • "He's supposed to serve the country, not profit off it."
  • "How can the wealth gap be so large and he's profiting off being president, not benefitting the country at all."
  • "I think it's unethical for a president to gain so much from his office and not do so much for his country. Very corrupt."
  • "It doesn't sound right to me."

Here's what they said when presented with the Obama scenario:

  • "I think Obama doing it, too, is morally wrong."
  • "Both Donald Trump and Barack Obama have found ways to enter foreign policy with wars and to increase their powers."
  • "No president should benefit off their country. That's ground base for everyone."
  • "Oh damn. I dunno. That would be bad too."
  • "Barack Obama is questionable for a lot of things, the least of which is how he gained his money."
  • "I don't believe that President Obama was a horrible president, but he was a bad president, especially toward minorities."
  • "I still think it's problematic."
