Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez mocked for J.Lo reference in showing new office plaque (10 Pics)

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one step closer to beginning her new role as congresswoman. And she’s letting followers know that despite her political clout, she won’t forget where she came from.
The 29-year-old took to social media on Thursday to celebrate a new office plaque that includes her soon-to-be official title of representative. However, not everyone was ready to celebrate the moment with the representative-elect and her reference to J.Lo.
“Don’t be fooled by the plaques that we got, I’m still/I’m still Alex from the Bronx,” Ocasio-Cortez riffed on J.Lo’s lyrics from her song “Jenny From the Block.” But as for her claim that she was born in the New York City borough, many found reason to mock Ocasio-Cortez for exaggerating her roots in the Bronx, given that she moved to Yorktown in Westchester, N.Y., at the age of 5.

Some also criticized her Instagram post“Must have been really strenuous to put that on the wall. I’m sure you will need some more time off to rest!!” one critic wrote referencing the fact that Ocasio-Cortez said recently she’d be taking a week off before starting work.
Still, plenty of others assured her that they are looking forward to all that she will accomplish.
